How much do I need?

Please refer to the chart to determine the optimum quantity. Remove the oil filler cap and add the required amount. At normal operating temperature the Extralube ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment cleans and treats your equipment by impregnating and thermally bonding to the wearing surfaces.

Extralube ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment can be applied even without having to change your oil with the same instantaneous protection. It loosens any dirt and sludge that has accumulated so that when you next change your oil, that dirt is also drained out of your engine.
Will I lose the ZX1 if I change my oil?

No, ZX1 impregnates and thermally bonds to the wearing surfaces. Your engine is protected until the Extralube ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment is worn away, and typically this is 25,000 miles.

What if I add more than recommended?

Don’t worry, if you add too much, any excess will remain in colloidal suspension within you oil until bare metal is exposed and the reserve Extralube ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment has to go to work.

Cold/Dry Start Protection?

It is generally accepted that most wear occurs during start up because cold, viscous oil has not been circulated and bare metal surfaces are rubbing together:-

By treating with Extralube ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment you eliminated the problem of metal to metal contact and it follows that ZX1 reduces the workload of the oil thereby extending it’s serviceable life
How long will the treatment last?

Extralube ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment has lasted for up to 100,000 miles
However, we recommend retreating every 25,000 miles for the optimum long term benefit.

My motorcycle has a wet clutch?

Extralube ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment only treats the metals surfaces and will not affect the composite fibre clutch plate.
Does ZX1 build on itself making a thick coating?

No, Extralube ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment is designed to form an extremely hard wearing substrate film which has no perceivable measurable thickness and will not build on itself to compromise design tolerances, because ZX1 is totally non-particulate it can be universally used in all systems including hydraulics
Can I use with synthetic oil?

Yes, Extralube ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment is compatible with all known oils and will not change the characteristics of your favourite oil.

Extralube ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment only needs a medium to transport it to the wearing surfaces. ZX1 also works in water, should a head gasket failure occur and water contaminates your oil, ZX1 will continue to protect all the internal moving parts.

A couple of capfuls in the cooling system will help protect the water pump.

Can I use ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment  in my fuel?

Yes, to enhance the upper cylinder lubrication and help reduce harmful emission we suggest the following initial treatment  simply add 10mls of ZX1 Micro OIL Metal Treatment to  each 10 Litres of fuel

·         Make subsequent treatments at 1000 mile intervals using 5ml per 10 Litres of fuel.

This is only a suggestion, you may feel that your engine would benefit from treatment at short intervals; of course any excess will benefit the exhaust system by smoothing the internal surfaces helping exhaust gasses to dissipate quicker.

Can I use ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment in my Mazda RX8 rotary engine?

Yes, ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment will protect the rotary tips which are prone to wear.

My car has syncromesh - can I still use ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment?

We understand your concern for the synchromesh, because of the way in which the rings work, however, it has been found that ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment benefits the gearbox and does not compromise the efficiency of the synchromesh.  Our racing contacts have informed us that if you are an experienced racing driver used to many different gearboxes you might notice a few milliseconds delay inthe gear change but in the last 10 years that has only been commented on by one very experienced racer who said he would rather protect his gearboxes with ZX1 as the very slight delay did not compromise his performance on the track and since using ZX1 has never suffered a transmission failure whereas, previously it was one of his major mechanical failures in endurance races.

Can I use ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment in my "new build engine"?

We recommend running in the engine for +/- 500 miles, this should be sufficient for most engines.

Can I use Micro Oil Metal Treatment ZX1 in a limited slip differential (lsd)?

I have been using ZX1Micro Oil Metal Treatment in my engine for years. Can I use it in my Rover 600 petrol turbo gearbox 1999 which has a limited slip differential?

"Thank you for your enquiry, yes it is fine with LSD (Limited Slip Differential), the molecules are so small they will not smooth off the surface of the sintered plates".

How can I treat my bike chain with ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment?.

We suggest heating the ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment to +/- 100 degrees C ( in an old saucepan) then painting it onto the chain with a clean paintbrush, this means the ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment will be the required temperature of 60 degrees c to thermally bond to the metal surfaces and treat them.

Can I use ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment in with  my brake fluid?

Yes ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment  can be used in a 5% ratio to the volume in the reservoir of the brake fluid.

Will using ZX1 Micro Oil Metal Treatment  products affect my warranty?

Many manufacturers advise against using oil additives because they change the characteristics of the oil recommended by them for that particular engine. ZX1 Micro Oil is a Metal Treatment, not an oil additive, it does not change the charactistics of the  oil, it only uses it as a carrier to get to the wearing surfaces.  As such we see no reason why your warranty should be affected.
